Honest to god, no one writes a hotter, more addicting, intense, ‘welcome’ to a BDSM read, than Sierra Cartwright. Initiation is just that. Jennifer is new to the BDSM scene, but isn’t ignorant or dumb. None of this authors women are. It’s one of the greatest things about her writing. All her female leads are smart, professional and driven. Jennifer knows it’s something she wants to pursue, but has a pretty disappointing start. Enter Logan Powell. Really, there should be background music right now! Logan is a very experienced Dom who has an immediate interest in Jennifer, the type of interest he hasn’t had in a long time. Fast forward, and friends set them up to explore a D/s relationship which is turns absolutely explosive! These are two mature adults who understand that when a connection clicks, you take a risk. Of course there are obstacles. Their jobs, his needs (requests? Demands?), her independence, and trust. The bottom, line; trust. But their time together on the arranged weekend proves to both of them that they definitely click. The ‘Initiation’ Jennifer experiences under Logan is tangible to the reader. I found myself squirming and wincing a few times, then swiveling in my chair and even being grateful I haven’t put my air conditioning away for the season yet! Just when you think Logan is going too far, his Dominance proves its purity in his care and attention for Jennifer. She wants this, but needs to be shown how to ask for it, how to assert her power, and Logan gives her that at every turn. Jennifer is also one not to back down. Her insecurity at one point is natural and not over dramatized. She meets Logan toe to toe and insists on being heard. But when you have a Dom like Logan, you need to be ready to turn your heart and soul over – it will be kept safe. This read says Book #1 and I certainly hope there are many more to come. Sierra Cartwright just keeps getting better and better. If you are new to her writing, welcome! Enjoy the ride! I am totally having a fangirl moment here. First of all, I positively love Sierra Cartwright. Not only is she a completely amazing author and I have everything she's written, but she's am amazing person as well. Just a truly warm and wonderful human being. That being said, can I give you an unbiased review of this book? Absolutely. That's my job. Just like an author's is to write the best work they can every time, that's my job as a reviewer/blogger.
Am I going to give this book a 5 orgasm rating? Absopositively!!! Why you ask? Because it's incredibly well written, the storyline pulls you in from the very first line of the book. I could probably poll every single submissive woman on the planet right now, me included, and they would tell you the same thing. We all the same thing, We want Master Logan! ♥ *sighing*
Logan Powell decides to come out of his self-imposed isolation after cutting off the fairer sex because of a bad breakup four years earlier. He sees neophyte sub Jennifer Berklee. After watching her for a bit, he sees her go with another Dom, the scene goes poorly, and Jennifer bolts. Logan sees his chance and runs after her, but he strikes out.
A few weeks later, he's introduced to her by his friend. Can they make it work this time? You really need to grab a copy of this book and find out for yourself!
5 Seriously Hot Edgy Orgasms
Wish it were longer, absolutely enjoyed meeting Master Logan and Jennifer.
Immediately warmed to Logan, we get a great oversight of him, on why he didn’t ‘do’ relationships and we learn a bit more about him through Jennifer.
Jennifer is a great lady, very intrigued with the BDSM scene, she has a great group of friends who help her to get over her fears, and to make her face them head on.
Loved the deviousness of Joe and Noelle, they were friends first and foremost of Logan and Jennifer, but also could foresee them as a couple.
Their scenes were smoking hot, and I wonder how many ladies were wishing it were them, a fan and clean undies are a must.
They had a great relationship, even their dynamic D/s relationship in its intimacy lends promise to a wonderful long lasting relationship.
Great page turner, great sexy scenes, 2 very independent strong people, well developed characters. I’m hoping they pop up in the rest of the series.
This is the third book of Sierra Cartwright's I've read recently and I've come to the conclusion that her finished HEA, but abrupt, endings are just her writing style. More details and background wouldn't go amiss. That said, this was a good BDSM with Logon helping Jennifer to spread her wings.and fly in the lifestyle, and with him in particular. The fact that they fall for each other so quickly seems to flow with the genre and personalities. In a regular or just an erotic story, it wouldn't have been so natural. Liked both characters, but like I said more details on how they were going to mesh their lifestyles would've been nice. <SPOILER> Just him being away incommunicado one week, when he warned her it was going to happen regularly because of his job, seemed to be too much for her. I need more reassurance that they will make it than how it was left. And after reading two books of Sierra Cartwright's other series- there was no follow-up to previous characters' lives in following books. So I doubt there will be any more info about this one.
Also, the blurb seems inaccurate- it leads you to believe that Logan was the reason that Jennifer fled that first party and needed to make it up to her. He may have made her nervous and that added to it, but he's not the reason she left. If anything, him coming into her life in a very determined way makes up for the first time and eases her into the lifestyle in a really delicious and acceptable way. Very nice. I recommend this book.
